Safety Committee
The Joint Work Site Health and Safety Committee is part of CNOOC International’s continued efforts to improve and strengthen the safety culture within our oil sands operations. Committee members, are nominated by their peers, and act as safety ambassadors to provide valuable feedback to make necessary improvements in our operations. The team meets regularly to address safety notifications in the field and sustain our commitment to our near miss reporting HSE Observation Program. Since its inception in 2017, the committee has completed the rigorous analysis of our safe work permits to identify trends and leading indicators that would help improve the quality of our permits and ensure safety is our top priority at each work site.
With our stop work authority, every employee, contractor and visitor is expected to stop work. If conditions may be unsafe, proper procedures are not being followed or if conditions have changed. Nothing is so important that it cannot be done safely.
