In the United States, CNOOC International holds a non-operated working interest in approximately 143,000 net acres in the Eagle Ford (South Texas) and 77,000 net acres in the Powder River Basin (Wyoming). Your Background
- 8 to 10 years experience working as a lease and property administration analyst for US based oil and gas companies Experience working Texas and the Rocky Mountain Regions, with specific experience working the Eagle Ford in South Texas and the Powder River Basin in Wyoming a plus (but not a requirement)
- Experience working with Western US Federal Units including unit participating areas and unit expansions and contractions
- Understanding of and experience working with division orders and ability to calculate unit and well working and net revenue interests
- Experience working in various land management systems including ability to update and make changes to various lease, agreement and contract records in such systems; experience with PakLand system (i.e. LandVantage) a plus (not a requirement)
- Experience and ability to work with other functions such as Accounting, Finance, Tax and Audit departments Ability to work individually and with teams

Your Role with Our Team
- Maintain and update all current oil and gas lease files and records Maintain and update all contract and agreement files and records Manage, monitor and report all expiring and at risk acreage
- Coordinate the approval and payment of all lease rentals, lease renewal and lease extension payments Coordinate the preparation, execution and filing of all release and partial release of oil and gas leases Maintain and update all correspondence and records associated with federal oil and gas leases Maintain and update all correspondence and records associated with federal units

Your Background
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- 5-15 years of subsurface interpretation experience.
- Undergraduate or post-graduate degree in Geophysics or related Geoscience discipline;
- Professional designation with APEGA.

- Strong knowledge of clastic depositional environments.
- Understanding of rock physics.

Your Role with Our Team
- The Geophysicist will be responsible for the following areas:
- Geoscience interpretation using integrated data sets for oilsands development projects resulting in cohesive subsurface depositional models and reservoir predictability.
- Interpretation of subsurface stratigraphy, structure, isopach and reservoir quality attributes to accurately characterize and high-grade potential areas of interest for near term development.
- Working effectively within an integrated team with project geologists, engineers and project managers in providing a holistic evaluation and understanding of project potential.
- Planning and execution of drilling SAGD well pairs for near-term capital projects and support brownfield opportunities.
- Support of several corporate processes with technical evaluations (reserves, budget, strategic planning).
- Working closely with geoscientists in the reservoir optimization team ensuring collaborative cross-divisional evaluations and support seismic acquisition projects.

This dynamic role will be instrumental in evaluating, recommending, capturing, and executing exploration campaigns (well and seismic) with a focus on the geophysical elements of delivery.
Your Background
- BSc., M. Sc., or Ph.D. in Geophysics or equivalent is preferred.
- Minimum of eight years of related geophysical experience. Previous South America, Passive Margin or International experience in a variety of structural and stratigraphic play types, particular focus on deep water exploration, is very much preferred;
- Comprehensive skills in integrating diverse geological and geophysical data (e.g., well, log analysis, seismic, structural geology, stratigraphy, biostratigraphy, geochemical analysis, potential fields, etc.), with generalist skills in seismic mapping including lead and prospect generation,
- Expertise in Rock Physics, including seismic attribute analysis, seismic processing, AVO, etc.;
- The capability to create basin-scale and prospect-scale assessments, and to make technically and economically valid recommendations;
- Ability to deliver evaluations and recommendations under time constraints, from scoping (hours/days) to detailed analyses (weeks/months);
- Proficient using Petrel, Hampson Russell, RokDoc, PaleoScan, GeoX etc.
Your Role with Our Team
- Independently map and interpret 2D and 3D seismic data from regional to prospect scale;
- Analyze, edit and tie wells to 2D and 3D seismic;
- Complete Rock Physics and AVO analysis to evaluate reservoir fluids and reservoir quality;
- Model seismic response with wells and generate seismic attributes to address reservoir and charge risks; Build seismic velocity models to convert time horizons to depth using seismic and well data
- Identify and analyze concepts & leads through integration of all available geological and geophysical data; Assess prospect merits by estimating probabilistic hydrocarbon resource and evaluating risk of source, charge, reservoir, trap, seal, and hydrocarbon preservation;
- Work closely with an integrated team of geoscientists to mature leads & concept to drillable prospects – design work and execution programs for prospect drill readiness;
- Recommend acquisition and/or purchase of geophysical data, including 2D and 3D seismic and potential fields data for regional assessment and prospect maturation;
- Work with contractors and CNOOC specialists to design, contract and execute geophysical acquisition programs and processing;
- Potential to act as a leader of small groups of technical personnel, or manage specific projects & evaluations if required;
- Present prospects to CNOOC’s Peer Review Team, Management and Partners with clear recommendations to acquire, drop, farm out, or test the prospect. These presentations often require International travel at short notice; Participation in Peer Reviews as required for prospects and block acquisition;
- Provide mentorship to more junior earth scientists.

The Role:
We are seeking a Legal Counsel to join our International Legal Team based in Uxbridge.
As part of the CNOOC International legal group, this role provides legal support and advice to some of the most important and significant energy projects around the world, including host government negotiations, joint venture agreements, acquisition & divestment agreements, material commercial contracts, compliance issues and potential disputes. The role is primarily focussed on conventional oil and gas,although there may be some scope to support on the Company’s net zero activities.
The individual will support several business groups across the organisation and will be fully integrated within the CNOOC International Legal, Compliance and Corporate Governance team.
You will:
The Legal Counsel will report to the Managing Counsel – International and provide support to key stakeholders across the business, including:
- Supporting CNOOC International’s growth strategy by advising on confidentiality agreements, data purchase agreements, AMIs, joint bidding arrangements, host government contracts and joint operating agreements.
- Demonstrating efficient project and transaction management, with a high level of cultural intelligence, of multiple stakeholders and clients located across London, Beijing, Houston, Guyana and Africa.
- Conducting legal and compliance due diligence on potential opportunities to identify CNOOC International’s material rights and obligations and ensuring that effective compliance plans are in place for all new country entries.
- Advising on regulatory and compliance issues in relation to production sharing contracts, local law compliance and global anti-bribery and corruption standards with a particular focus on common law jurisdictions in Africa and South America.
- Reviewing and negotiating key upstream agreements such as construction and tie in agreements, transportation and processing agreements and lifting agreements.
- Reviewing and negotiating material commercial contracts by providing legal and commercial support to the global supply chain function, in relation to procurement for production and development operations.
- Where necessary, instructing and ensuring effective use of external advisersand law firms.
Who are we looking for?
We are particularly interested in you if you have the following skills and knowledge:
- You will have prior demonstratable legal experience of advising complex cross-border transactions or projects, ideally within the energy industry.
- A qualified solicitor, in England and Wales/Scotland, you will have several years post qualification experience that demonstrate your ability to work with a degree of independence and your ability to handle a busy and diverse workload.
- Demonstrated ability to balance legal risks with business risks and communicate effectively to clients.
- Confidence and capability to ensure efficient project management and, where appropriate, provide commercial guidance on deal structuring and key value items.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Good interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work in cross functional teams and adapt to multiple cultures.

Your Role with Our Team
Brownfield and/or Sustaining Pad Development
- Self-perform detailed geological evaluations to interpret subsurface stratigraphy, structure, isopach, deposition and reservoir quality attributes to accurately characterize and high-grade potential areas of interest for near-term or medium-term development.
- Ensure accurate geological inputs for optimal development planning and operational results
- Work as an integrated team with project geophysicist, engineers, and project managers in providing a holistic evaluation and project potential
- Communications to senior leadership
- Planning and execution of drilling SAGD well pairs and sidetracks for near-term and/or medium-term capital project commitments.
- Brownfield / Sustaining Pad Planning:
- Responsible for identifying opportunities, determining, and optimizing subsurface well-pair trajectory and recoverable volumes recommendations

Reservoir and Production Management

The Role:
We are recruiting for Technical Safety Engineers to work within the Assurance and Integrity team reporting to the Technical Safety Manager / Technical Authority, based full time in our Aberdeen office. One role is to provide day to day support to our operated assets and the other is to provide support to our Engineering Delivery and Projects teams. Both roles will also have responsibility for delivering the Technical Safety Workplan (as directed by the Technical Safety Manager).
You will:
Technical Safety Engineer (Operations)
The role provides technical safety support to the operated asset teams (onshore/offshore), the subsea operations team and the interventions team as required. The role ensures CNOOC assets are operated in compliance with key regulatory framework and that ALARP is demonstrated for ongoing operational activities. The role also requires management of consultants undertaking safety case updates to support safety case thorough reviews & material change submissions.
The role provides support for daily operations through operational risk assessments (ORAs), adhoc risk evaluations, and subject matter expert advice. This will include arranging and facilitating HAZANs, HAZOPS and LOPA assessments as required. The role is responsible for performing and managing major accident hazard studies, updating, and managing safety case submissions, and maintaining Performance Standards.
Additionally, the role manages scopes of work for third-party consultants (includes QRA model updates undertaken by specialist 3rd party consultant), supports the development of major accident hazard procedures, and applies ALARP and Process Safety Management principles. This position also addresses HSE inspection findings, verification and audit findings and contributes to the overall audit and assurance programs.
Technical Safety Engineer (Engineering Delivery and Projects)
The role provides technical safety input to all engineering change activities. This includes engineering change conducted by CNOOC and the designated EPC. The Technical Safety engineer ensures compliance with key regulatory framework and that ALARP is demonstrated for engineering change activities.
The role will conduct safety screening assessments of engineering change activities and identify / implement technical safety studies required to support the modifications. This role will also assess the impacts of change on SECEs and the asset Safety Cases and include arranging and facilitating HAZANs, HAZOPS and LOPA assessments as required. Review of EPC deliverables and input to key safety assessments conducted by the EPC is also required.
Who are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will hold an Engineering or Science degree and possess extensive experience in technical safety within the oil and gas industry, ideally in a similar role. A strong technical background, with broad engineering knowledge and effective communication skills, is essential to drive risk management and technical safety initiatives across the organisation.
You should have a solid understanding of the UK major hazards regulatory framework and a proven ability to identify and develop effective and innovative technical solutions. Knowledge of related engineering disciplines such as instrumentation, controls, and process engineering is required, along with expertise in consequence modelling, QRA modelling, frequency analysis, SIL Assessment, and SIL Validation. Strong relationship-building skills and effective written and verbal communication are also crucial for success in this role.
