    CNOOC International launched a scholarship program in Uganda in 2013 that provides primary and middle school students in the Hoima District with rewards for their distinct and outstanding academic activity. Since the beginning of the program, over 330 students have received the scholarships.

    CNOOC attends inaugural Guyana petroleum conference

    The first-ever Guyana International Petroleum Business Summit and Exhibition (GIPEX) was held in Georgetown, Guyana in early February. Hosted by the Guyana Ministry of Natural Resources, CNOOC participated at the conference through our booth within the main exhibition tent, and as part of the conference agenda, with Keith Henderson, VP, International Developments, presenting.

    The conference was attended by industry delegates, government representatives from Guyana, Canada and other countries, local stakeholders and the general public. The main themes of the presentations were collaboration and local content, sustainable development, regulatory structure and properly managing the influx of capital from resource developments.

    The CNOOC booth featured information on our global assets, and sought to further demonstrate the capabilities of CNOOC subsidiaries COOEC (China Offshore Oil Engineering Co. Ltd.), COSL (China Oilfield Services Ltd.) and CenerTech (CNOOC Engineering and Technical Services Co.).

    Payara Commenced Production

    CNOOC announces that Payara Project has commenced production safely.

    Payara Project locates in the Stabroek Block offshore Guyana and produces with 1 FPSO and 41 subsea wellheads. The FPSO is the third production facility in the Block following the two serving Liza Phase I and Liza Phase II. It was constructed in China and Singapore, and arrived in Guyana in April 2023. It is moored in water depth of about 1,930 meters and will be able to store around 2 million barrels of crude oil. Payara Project is expected to reach its peak production of approximately 220,000 barrels of crude oil per day in 2024.

    Mr. Zhou Xinhuai, CEO and President of the Company, said, “The delivery of Payara Project was a milestone for the partnership and production growth of the Stabroek Block. By 2024, the daily production of the Block is expected to reach approximately 620,000 barrels of crude oil per day, which will further fuel the high-quality development of the Company.”

  • Mero 1 Commenced Production

    Mero 1 Commenced Production

    Mero field locates in the Santos Basin pre-salt in the sea area of southeastern Brazil, with an average water depth of 1,930 meters, more than 150 kilometres from Rio de Janeiro. Mero 1 Project will be developed by the traditional deep-water Pre-salt development mode, FPSO+Subsea. It has 6 producing wells and 7 injectors currently, and capacity to produce 180,000 barrels of crude oil per day.

    The FPSO used in Mero field was completed in December 2021 and arrived in Brazil in January 2022. It will be able to store around 1.4 million barrels of crude oil and is one of the largest adapted FPSO in the world.

    “Mero field, which contains extremely rich oil and gas resources, is the third-largest subsalt deep-water oilfield globally,” said Xia Qinglong, president of the Company. “The production of Mero 1 will not only become a significant growth driver for CNOOC Limited’s overseas oil and gas production. The Company will take this as an opportunity, to further enrich experience and strengthen key technology breakthroughs, and sincerely work with partners to co-create a world-class benchmarking collaboration project, thus to have a positive impact on both the sustainable economic and social development of Brazil.”

    CNOOC Limited announced today that Liza Phase II had commenced production safely and ahead of schedule.

    Liza Phase II locates in the Stabroek Block offshore Guyana and produces with 1 FPSO and 30 subsea wellheads. The FPSO is the second production facility in the Block following the one serving Liza Phase I. It was constructed in China and Singapore, and arrived in Guyana in October 2021. It is moored in water depth of about 1,650 meters and will be able to store around 2 million barrels of crude oil. Liza Phase II is expected to reach its peak production of approximately 220,000 barrels of crude oil per day within this year.

    The total recoverable resources of the Stabroek Block are estimated to be over 10 billion barrels of oil equivalent. By 2027, at least six FPSOs are expected to be producing more than 1 million barrels of oil per day from the Block.
